Nineteen SCNC leaders and activists who were illegally arrested in Mankon on 9th February 2008 and detained under very harsh conditions for five days, were on 13th February granted bail in the sum of  200.000 frs each and  sureties in like sum by Justice Mboa, Mezam State Counsel. It was the first time ever in the history of the SCNC liberation struggle that captured suspects were released at the level of the state Counsel without being remanded in prolonged custody for the so-called preliminary investigations.

The nineteen SCNC leaders and activists must appear before the state Counsel on 5th March 2008 to be formally charged.  They are: Chinkwo Fidelis, Muma Emmanuel Suh, Ndimungori Zacchaeous Ndeh, Ngwa Benedict Fuh, Nkwenti Peter Shu, Che Christian, Nji Maring Minang, Chi Samuel, Richard Nji, Fru Peter, Atumko Fruasanga Cyprian,  Fontowah Nde Pierre, Nicolas Ndinge, Fru, Chungong Christopher, Forbanjong Michael Ndenge, Peter Tumafor, Azieh Peter, Wisiy Aminu Kajo, Ngalim Felix Safeh

The nineteen SCNC activists were among many who converged at the residence of a fellow member to plan the celebration of the 2nd UNPO International Day of Action under the theme “Burma and Democracy” which was slated for 11th February 2008, UNPO founding day.

The peaceful meeting was raided by elements of the occupation police force and while followers and sympathizers were brutally dispersed, the nineteen leaders and activists were singled out, arrested and driven to the Mankon Mile 7 police station. Later on, they were taken to the Central Police Station and the GMI N0 6 for detention over the weekend in contravention of the New Criminal Procedure Code, which forbids arrests and detentions on weekends.

The nineteen persons were brought before the State Counsel on 13th February 2008, who then granted them bail.

Before and especially after 1st October 2001, the neo - colonial master La Republique du Cameroun has intensified attempts to militarily crush the dissenting voices of  the SCNC supporters for fear they expose the obnoxious crime of annexation which is vehemently  condemned by international law.

 The pro-consuls of LRC are hereby reminded that self-determination is an inalienable right enshrined in international statute and that the thirst for freedom of Southern Cameroonians shall be quenched only  when the land is freed of  intimidation and oppression

While thanking the UNPO in particular for the efforts deployed towards the release of the detainees, we call upon the International Community and all lovers of justice and freedom to rally behind the SCNC and support it in every way possible so that it can achieve the lofty goal of sovereignty and restoration of the statehood of Southern Cameroons.

The time for fence sitting is over!  Let the International Community wake-up  from lethargy and denounce injustices wherever they may occur without fear or favour.  That is the only way a blood thirsty tyranny which is rearing its ugly head in the Central African Sub Region can be brought to it knees.
